Jonathan Confirms Eugene Juwah As NCC Executive Chairman

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan’s nominee and Chief Executive Officer of Cititel Networks Communications Ltd, Dr Eugene Juwah, has been cleared by the Senate paving way for him to become Nigeria’s new telecoms regulatory czar.


Dr. Juwah, the new executive vice chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, was among the three nominees for the job after they were recommended by the previous Board of the regulatory agency soon after the departure of Mr Ernest Ndukwe.


The senate clearance for the new boss did not come easy after tough sessions. Getting clearance from the Senate Committee on Communications was a herculean task for the system expert. At a point along the path to getting his clearance through the Committee, the process was nearly truncated when the vital ’security report’ was not received by the lawmakers.


Those conversant with the situation, told the media noting apparently confident that the committee will do a good job which eventually paved the way for Juwah and two others: Peter Igho, the new chairman of the NCC Board of Commissioners.


One of the top contenders in the keenly contested race, who currently heads the telecoms regulatory agency in acting capacity, Bashir Gwandu, an executive commissioner in NCC, will now cede leadership to Dr Eugene Juwah.


The new NCC boss has over 30 years experience in Information Technology and Telecommunication, with more than 20 years experience on directorial level. He is extremely knowledgeable in digital exchanges, base station, data communication and subscriber access networks construction and operations having played coordinating roles in the set up of an ETACS, GSM and CDMA Mobile Networks in Nigeria.


He has had experience in Network Operations Directory with profound practical knowledge of pricing, billing, interconnection, licensing and regulatory affairs and network fraud control within the Nigerian Environment.


Dr Juwah who hails from Asaba, Delta state has at one time or the other been a board member of some technology driven companies, such as Egogo Technology Limited, the Nigerian subsidiary of Xi An Huilong Network Technology Company Ltd, the foremost network engineering services provider in China. SystemSoft Ltd a Financial Services Software House, U2 Communication Investment Ltd, a primary wireless communication initiative and Cititel Networks Communication Ltd


His professional experience has seen him through lots of telecommunications companies which includes Communications Investment Limited (CIL) which transformed to Globacomm communications and MTS Wireless Limited, the pioneer private cellular mobile network operator in Nigeria and the first operational mobile networks in the country.


Cititel Networks Communications Ltd which he founded in 2005, is into telecommunications services provider and plays in three key areas which includes, Wireless infrastructure services provision in the way of mobile cell sites design and supply, wireless broadband access and transaction services provision for financial institution and government.
