The Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta region has rescued a kidnap victim in an early morning raid at a kidnappers’ hide-out in Rivers, an official said.

The spokesman for the Task Force, Lt. Col. Timothy Antigha, disclosed that acting on a tip-off, the team stormed Obelle town in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers at 5.00 a.m.

‘’The operation, which was based on a tip-off, yielded one Gilbert Nnadi, the father of a certain Vincent Nnadi of Elf Obagi in Rivers State,’’ he said.

Antigha said a suspected kidnapper was arrested while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
He also said that one AK-47 assault rifle was recovered from the kidnappers’ camp.

‘’Further investigation into the activities of the gang and their accomplices is being pursued by the Department of State Security,’’ he said.

Antigha said the Task Force would continue to protect lives and property in the region in fulfillment of its mandate.
