BENIN CITY – Integrated Data Services Limited-Staff Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited (IDSL-SMCSL) has held its 2009 Annual General Meeting (AGM) which culminated in the election of a new executive that would pilot its affairs in the next one year.
There was also declaration of a generated total income of N11,687.220 million and net surplus of N5,191.895 million.
The new executive of the cooperative society comprised Mr. Osibanjo Oba who has re-elected for a the second tenure as president, Mr. Samson Agbaje was returned unopposed as Vice President, Mr. Michael Olaiya as the new General Secretary as well as Aliu Ahmed and Bashir Ahmed who won the seats for Treasurer and Assistant General Secretary respectively.
Other members of the executive include Mrs. Nkemakolam Udensi, who retained her position as financial Secretary, Mr. Ejalonibu Taofeek elected again unopposed as the Public Relations Officer, as well as Mr. Clifford Uwagboe elected as Auditor and Mr. Mokwenyen Azuka returned unopposed for another tenure as Legal Adviser.
The elections was conducted by the official of the Edo State Ministry of Commerce and Industry in charge of cooperative Society in the presence of the managers and the staff of IDSL which is a subsidiary of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) a representatives from the NNPC Corporate Headquarters also witnessed the AGM and election.
At the AGM, the Managing Director of IDSL, Dr Dawha represented by Rev. Oluwadare Osho congratulated the members of the new executive of the Cooperative Society but emphasized the need for them to take seriously their official duties for which they were employed by NNPC as against the risk of sacrificing their duties on the altar of the activities of the Cooperative Society which he described as outside their normal official.
The MD commend the former executive for making profit in the year 2009 and tasked its successor to improve on the success achieved in all ramifications even as he expressed gratitude to the entire staff of IDSH for their productivity.
Earlier, the re-elected president of IDSL Staff Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited, Mr. Osibanjo Oba enumerated the achievement for the year under review to include registration of the cooperative society as a contractor to do business with its mother company, IDSL, procurement of a twin bungalow at Garrick Layout, Ekenwan Road, Benin City at the cost of N10 million which currently worth N15 million procuring and leasing of three crew operational vehicles to one IDSL seismic crew (JV 109), acquisition of land for estate development, cooperators savings of N14,264.940 million, payment of bank loans and granting of loans to members, increase in membership shares to N5,320.937 million from N5,049.872 million in 2008. increase in shop floor trading, assistance to cooperators as well as recommendation of payment of over N2.3 million and N266.047:00 as dividends on savings and shares respectively.
The president also promised to ensure best performance, integrity, openness and accountability, adding that he would work with all stakeholders during the new tenure.
While identifying challenges of the society, Mr. Osibanjo Oba thanked the management and staff of IDSL and the External Auditor for their support to the cooperative society and gave assurance that the new executive would improve on previous performance and make up for the short comings observed during the AGM just as he commended the organizers of the free and fair election.
