ABUJA-ANPP has expressed displeasure over PDP’s description of it as a “factionalised and discordant party that cannot be entrusted with authority at any level in Nigeria”.
The National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Prof. Rufai Alkali, said the dissolution of Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke led National Working Committee (NWC) by a faction in ANPP signified that the party was not ready to “shoulder any responsibility within Nigeria political terrain.”
In a reaction, Sen. Sa’idu Kumo, the National Secretary of ANPP in Abuja, told newsmen that PDP comment about disintegration in the party was a “wishful thinking”
He further stated that the ruling party should not take any victory in the “family disagreement” within ANPP, saying it would be resolved amicably.
“PDP has no moral right to call on Nigerians to disregard opposition parties based on internal conflicts they are experiencing.
“This only shows the fear of PDP leadership that the party will cease to be in power as from 2011. And to be frank and sincere, ANPP is a major threat to put an end to PDP misrule in this country,” he said.
Kumo called on PDP to concentrate on resolving “the numerous problems” created in the nation rather than adding more to it.
However, he stated that there was no faction in ANPP, saying the conflict rocking the party was a “problem of a large family,” which was borne out of misunderstanding and misleading of some party members.
