BENIN CITY- Movie producers in Edo State have been advised to use their productions to highlight the positive aspects of the state.
Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Egberanmwen Odubu gave the advice when the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, paid him a courtesy visit in Benin City yesterday.
He stressed that movie producers in the state should as a matter of necessity, lay more emphasis on issues and aspects that will portray the state in good light.
The deputy governor who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Governor’s Office, Prince Ekpenriebe Akenzua, expressed delight over the contribution of the movie industry to the economic well-being of the state, and assured that the Oshiomhole-led administration is poised to taking the state to greater height, especially in the area of infrastructure in order to make the state attractive.
Dr. Odubu similarly advised movie producers in the state to produce more of their movies in indigenous languages to promote the unique cultural heritage of the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, Osagie Elegbe, noted that the movie industry in the state has impacted positively on the lives of Edos as it has brought joy to many homes.
He added that the movie industry in Edo State will benefit from the on-going infrastructural development in the state. The chairman appealed to the deputy governor to assist the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Edo state chapter, with an 18-seater bus to ease mobility as well as an audio-visual studio to enable them train a number of youths in the movie industry to boost the rate of employment in the state.
