Danny Shittu Fired By Wonderers

 

NIGERIA international defender Danny Shittu has been released from his contract by English Premier League outfit Bolton Wanderers.


According to Bolton official website, Shittu has reached an agreement with the club to be released from his contract with immediate effect.


“Bolton Wanderers have reached an agreement with Danny Shittu to release the defender from his contract at the club with immediate effect,” read the statement on the Bolton website.


The big central defender is presently in Nigeria training camp ahead of Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar has been moody and when asked by MTNFootball.com reporters about his future, he gave a terse “no comment” reply.


The 29-year-old Shittu had to dash back to England hours on arrival in Nigeria after he informed officials he had to attend to talks before the transfer deadline of Tuesday.


He told Nigeria officials that he had two offers on the table. This summer he has been linked with a switch to Turkey.


Shittu failed to make the grade at Bolton since he moved to the Reebok side in the summer of 2008 from Watford. He made only a dozen appearances for the EPL side.
