Fenerbache Hijack Yobo

TURKISH giants Fenerbache have beaten English Premier League club West Ham to the signature of Nigeria international defender Joseph Yobo on transfer deadline day.

Yobo is presently in Istanbul, Turkey, to sign a six-month loan deal with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season.

A top source told MTNFootball.com that Everton preferred to allow Yobo leave for Fenerbache rather than West Ham after because according to an official at the Goodison Park club, the London club unsettled another Nigeria international, Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

“Yakubu was unsettled for several months following speculations regarding a move to West Ham. West Ham had even agreed wages with the player before Everton pulled the plug on the deal,” a source informed MTNFootball.com

Another source told MTNFootball.com that Everton were equally not keen on Yobo, 29, playing in England after he made it clear that he was unhappy with the Toffees.

“They were ready to let him move to Scotland or any other club outside England,” the source further disclosed.

As a result of his late transfer move, Yobo will now most likely be the last arrival at the Eagles camp ahead of Sunday’s Nations Cup qualifier in Calabar.
