2011: David Mark Demands Automatic Ticket

There were strong indications yesterday, that the characteristic declaration of No Vacancy in the nation’s political offices for which the Peoples Democratic Party is known has shaped up for the Party Senators at the National Assembly.

This followed Senate President David Mark’s request to the National chairman of the PDP, Mr. Vincent Ogbulafor that automatic tickets be given to all the PDP senators who indicate to continue at the NASS and damn the consequences.

The senate president made the request when he hosted the PDP national executives to a dinner party in his palatial mansion at the Apo legislative quarters on the premise that it would help to deepen democracy.

However, Mr. Ogbulafor who was full of praises for the PDP senators at the NASS promised giving serious consideration to Senator Mark’s request.

Senator Mark was uncomfortable with the clamour for senatorial jobs by politicians at home, whom he noted were asserting that it was their turn to produce the next senators and noted that if the trend is allowed the nation’s democracy which is dependent on the legislative arm of government would be weakened.

“After every four years, after an election, people begin to clamour for their own local government to produce the next Senator.

In other words, there are people back home now in our various constituencies who are saying it is the turn of their local government to produce the next elected person.
