Aighobahi Flags Off Immunisation Against Polio

The chairman of Ovia South West Local Government Area, Honourable Monday Aigbobahi has flagged off the sub-National Immunization plus Days (S.N.I.PS) slated for 4th of July, 2009.


Delivering his keynote address on the occasion, Hon. Aighobahi, said that will polio virus type 1 strain (WPVI) was isolated in same children in about three local governments in the state with the exclusion of Ovia South South West Local Government Area.


Hon. Aigbobahi who stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to fight against the backdrop of fact that the particular strain has been researched to spread like wild fire, however, disclosed that his administration had empowered the primary health care department, both morally and financially to prosecute to its logical conclusion this particular round of SNIPDS.


He expressed the believe that the children health today had a direct correlation with our tomorrow.
Continuing, the chairman stated that this year’s immunization exercise was targeted at children between 0 to 5 years of age, applying all recommended vaccines, including vitamin A.


He called on parents and caregivers to avail themselves with the ample opportunity offered by the present administration of local government and thanked the local government health team for its report of the last round of exercise.
