Education Vital To Actualisation Of Vision 2020 -NTI

Dr Ladan Sharehu, the Director-General, National Teachers Institute (NTI), on Thursday said education was a fundamental ingredient to the realisation of Vision 2020.

“Education holds a prime position in national development; it is a vehicle which brings positive changes to society. Therefore, it is a pathway to successful actualisation of Vision 2020,” he said in Zaria in Kaduna State.

Shareu said this at the 4th National Conference on Teacher Education organised by the School of Education, Federal College of Education (FCE), Zaria in collaboration with NTI.

The director general, who quoted from the Holy Books of Qur’an, said: “No venture in this world is better than education.”

According to him, searching for knowledge is searching for life, stressing the need for government to invest heavily in teacher training as best way to improve the standard of education.

Sharebu appealed to government to pay attention to teacher training, saying, “teaching is the most important aspect of education.

“Because teachers are model; they are the best thing that a country can produce to move forward. “An educated society is a developed and enlightened society. However, education is only important if it meets the needs of individuals and society as a whole.
