The Last One, The Success Link

By AUSTINE IMORU

THE Failures of today can be the bill-board to tomorrow’s successes, the pains of life are rappers with which the gains of life are hidden. I have seen men without reasonable past turned out to be men of great repute. It has been proved, success is not the absence of failure but the conquest of failure, The only way to conquer failure is to take every failure an opportunity to learn success.

Thus, the pain of failure should not embitter you, but it should empower you. That you failed does not make you a failure! For failure is not a person but an event! All you need do is to repeat the whole event again as you make the wrongs right. Then, you will arrive at your success!

“A great man is not one who makes no mistakes, but one who is greater than any of his mistakes!’ Learn from every mistake and move on. Mistakes are the ribbons that decorate the road to success.

John Keats said: ‘Mistakes and failures in a sense are the highways to success in as much as every discovery of what is false, leads us to seek earnestly after what is true. He who makes no mistakes, makes no progress! I have made very big mistakes in life! In fact. I have never wade a small mistake! I repeat for emphasis: no mistakes, no progress! Forgive yourself. Learn very fast and move on! Even the best people have a lot more failures than success, but they quickly let go and move on”!

It may surprise you to know that the great Albert Einstein failed an examination in 1895 that would have allowed him to study for a diploma as an Electrical Engineer at the Eidgenosische Technische Hochschule (ETH) in Zurich, But, he never quit because he realised that winners never quit and quitters never win! Rather. following the failure of the entrance exams to the ETH, Einstein attended secondary school at Aarau planning to use this route to enter the ETH Zurich.

At the end those who fail are those who gave up too early. Don’t allow your history (your yesterday) to kill your destiny (your tremendous future). Most people stop trying in trying times. Be different! Go another day, weeks, months and years! it’s never too late to be what you might have been!

Mary Crowley said. “you may give out, but never give up’. Elbert Hubbard said ‘there is no failure except in no longer trying!” Remember that all great people (including Albert Einstein) who affected their generations were men who suffered delays! Ask Nelson Mandela! Ask Abraham Lincoln! Ask Christopher Columbus! Remember: “Men don’t fail! They give up trying.

Don’t give up! Don’t retire Refire! In 1942. there were three men who had spent three months looking (prospecting) for diamonds in the Venezuelan water coast. One of them named Sojano Rafael woke up one morning feeling discouraged and physically exhausted.

He then announced to his two other friends: ‘1 am through. There is no use going on any longer. I have picked up 999.999 stories (pebbles) far, and their Harry Wilson a New York Jewel dealer paid Solano $200.000 for that millionth pebble named, ‘The liberator, it was the largest and purest diamond ever found! What if Mr. Solano had given up because of delay and frustration?

People who succeed do not have fewer problems than people who fail. As a matter of fact the only people without problems are those in the cemeteries. It is not what happens to us that separate failures from successes. It show we perceive it and what we do about what happens that makes the difference!

There is no value-judgment more important to man no factor more decisive in his psychological development and motivation than the estimate he passes on himself”. Nathaniel Branden.

What are you doing with your failures, do you sit there and cry or you run counting your distances from the point of failure and fearing and dreading the taste of it. Most time great men are men who are scared to fail. They see failure as an enemy that must be conquered, like Solano they pick yet another pebble, and another, yet another until the enemy is slaved, terminated. You only see success the day failure dies.

In African we know that the joy of victory always overcome the pains of finding. At the end only men who refuse to quit succeed.

The world seeks result, if you must give the world the result they desire you must stay there, overlook the 999.999 and pick the millionth pebble. If you must worth $200,000.

You must keep picking, stay there and keep working at your value until you stumble upon the “Liberator”.

Africans have the history of men who will never give up. Men who will climb any mountain, men who would dare the Lion with bare hands, men who fear nothing but failure. What happens to that brave Zolo warrior in Africa’s history? I tell you what: the sons of that great warrior see failure everywhere they turn: failures, which turned them to cowards so, they refuse to keep running. They always start the race give up too soon and so lost the crown. Lets go back to the root: “He that gives up is not amongst us, there is no failure but success, death is not a failure but a success, a cup every man must drink from, so why fear death and lie in defeat, Lets seek victory, lets seek success until we all lay to rest in death”

Like old O. G. Mandino. I have taken my vow ‘I will persist until I succeed. The prizes of life are at the end of each journey, not near the beginning; and it is not given to me to know how many stops are necessary in order to reach my goal.

Failure I may still encounter at the thousandth step, yet success hides behind the next bend in the road. Never will I know how close it lies unless I turn the corner. Always will I take another step, If that is of no avail I will take another, and yet another. In truth, one step at a time is not difficult. I will persist until I succeed.

As a people our past setback and failure is a pointer to our great future. We must keep moving, fearing nothing but failure. The average African has the greatest propelling force, poverty and diseases, they chase us everyday if we stop for a chat they will catch up with us, we must run and never look back. A man that chose to run far away from failure wakes up in success. Lets keep making attempt, lets keep trying, a step after another, the next and the next and the last one might just be the success link we have being seeking for.
