ASABA – Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan has commissioned an ultra modern medical outfit called Nordica Fertility Centre in Asaba, the state capital.
Dr. Uduaghan speaking at the historic occasion, lauded the Chief Medical Director of the Centre, Dr. Abayomi Bolagi Ajayi for the initiative which he described as a giant stride in the development quest of his administration.
Dr. Uduaghan who was overwhelmed with excitement explained that the establishment of Nordica Fertility Centre was quite timely and in alignment with government’s steady drive towards what he called ‘medical tourism’ across Delta State.
“This is obviously a giant stride and it is very commendable. The take-off of this centre is historic and quite timely. Also, it is in line with government’s plan to achieving Medical Tourism in Delta State”, Dr. Uduaghan noted.
He buttressed that the relevance of a fertility centre as Nordica in Asaba cannot be overemphasized, stressing that apart from serving as a great relieve for couples with infertility problem in the state and environs, it will also alleviate the deadly effects of economic melt down as money Nigerians would have used for treatment abroad will be saved and ploughed back to investments in Nigeria.
He informed that his government always welcome and encourage viable private initiatives as Nordica centre in the state, noting that especially now that the Asaba International Airport is at the verge of take-off and that this will serve as a leverage in transacting business in the state.
Among the steps taken so far to achieve, ‘Medical Tourism’ in the state, Dr. Uduaghan revealed that his government is building a gigantic hospital in Oghara town to make medical facilities closer to the citizenry.
Speaking earlier, Dr. Ajayi explained that though he charges money for treatments, but that the major aim of establishing the fertility centre is to contribute his quota in helping to reduce infertility problem which he said has assumed a worrisome level in the society. He further stated that his choice of Asaba was borne out of his observation that people from this region of the country are more in the clients that patronized the head and sub Nordica fertility centres in Lagos.
