IHIEVBE - The Vice – Chairman, Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, Senator Yisa Braimoh has called for the establishment of a Special Court for corruption cases.
Braimoh who represents Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly in a chat with newsmen, noted that as obtainable abroad, such move would represent a major step toward fighting corruption in the country.
According to him, Federal Government and the National Assembly should do everything as soon as possible to see to the establishment of the special court.
“Such a special court will not be subjected to a question or query through jurisdictions or adjournment which are delay tactics lawyers we to delay cases.
“When this is put in place, then you can get justice within months or weeks.
“In this country, there are some people who have obtained permanent injunctions restraining any court or agency from harassing and prosecuting them while some people in the judiciary have refused to vacate such injunctions,” he said.
The Senator who condemned the alarming rate of corruption in the country, identified the civil servants as major culprits, especially in the implementation of the budget, “I am very miffed about the level of corruption in Nigerian. As a Senator, with my experience with budget and budgeting.
