LAGOS- Pool agents in Lagos have declared the business as “highly profitable”,
describing the level of patronage in recent times as unprecedented.
Some of them, who spoke with newsmen said they were not prepared to quit the business which they claimed had benefited them and their patrons.
“The kind of patronage I am getting now is unprecedented. And besides, many people had made it through the game,” Mr. Joseph Asuquo, Manager, Textile Pools at Ojuelegba, told newsmen.
Asuquo, who said that he received an average of 70 pool bets daily, however, declined to disclose his profit on daily basis.
The manager explained that his business was open to anybody above 18 years of age. Mr. Young Ade, Manager, Young Ade Pools Agency, Mile 12, said pools betting had yielded high returns to people with little amount staked.
“People have been using pools betting to complement their businesses, especially considering the present economic situation in the country and they have been getting good returns on their money.
“The business has been on for long. That we have not closed shop is an indication that both of us - the agents and the stakers - have been getting considerable benefit,” he said.
