BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor has commended the effort of Judges of the Federal High Court in the country on their effort at re-visiting the rules of the Federal Court.
He gave the commendation during a dinner organized in honour of the Federal Court Judges on Wednesday in Benin City.
Noting that Judges were meticulous and wanted the best in their endeavours, Prof. Osunbor who was accompanied by his wife, Lady Ussieh said they had worked tirelessly during their 2008 Conference which ended in Benin City yesterday.
While thanking the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Abdullahi Mustapha for the inspiration to decide last year in Abuja that their 2008 Conference should be held in Benin City, the governor wished them a safe return to their various judicial divisions across the country.
In his remark, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Abdullahi Mustapha, who expressed pride that he moved the motion in Abuja last year that the 2008 Conference be held in the Edo State capital, urged his fellow judges to use the decisions reached at the end of the conference as their guide in their daily duty.
Also, the Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Omoruyi Omoruwa (SAN) said the people of the state love the judges so much, hence the governor had done so much to improve the judiciary in the state.
The Attorney-General, who explained why the occasion was very special, emphasized the significance for everybody to join the governor in his continuous effort to develop Edo State.
At the ceremony, Hon. Justice Samson Uwaifo retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Dan Abulu of the Federal High Court and Roland Otaru (SAN), proposed a toast for Nigeria, Edo State and the Judiciary respectively just as Hon. Justice Nnamani moved the vote of thanks.
Dignitaries present at the occasion were representatives of the state Chief Judge and President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Cromwell Idahosa and Hon. Justice Asemota respectively, Secretary to Edo State Government, Dr. Joseph Akhigbe and the Chief of Staff, Edo State Government, Hon. Isaiah Osifo.
