ABUJA- The FCT Executive Committee (Exco) has approved a new unit for street names under the Urban Affairs Department of the Abuja Metropolitan Management
Council.

The FCT Minister, Dr. Modibbo Umar who made this known at the end of the Exco meeting, said the new unit would name and maintain streets.

Muhammad Hazat Sule, Chief Press Secretary to the Minister, quoted Umar as saying that the new unit will be headed by an officer not less than Grade level 13 in the Civil service.
The officer would also assume the position of the secretary of the Street Name Standing Committee. According to Sule, the Minister reiterated that the

renaming of streets in the FCT will be continuous to give honour to whom honour is due.
The Exco also called for a collaborative effort among the new work unit, the Abuja Geographic Information Systems and the FCT Department of Facilities Management and Maintenance for better results.
