Societal ills: Be bold, CAN leaders task body

BENIN CITY –The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Edo State chapter has stressed the need for the body to be courageous enough to consistently speak against the ills of the society, such as armed robbery, kidnapping, hired assassins electoral malpractices, bad governance, among others.


This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the plenary session of the Edo state chapter of the body which took place in Benin City recently.


The communiqué which was signed by Rt. Rev. Peter Imasuen and Apostle G.I Ukhuedobah, Acting Chairman and Secretary, respectively, Edo State CAN, similarly stressed the need for religious leaders not to be praise- singers to evil rules.

 

He said that the leadership of CAN and her members should be in the forefront in demonstrating the fear of God in every spheres of their lives.


The communiqué also urged youth to avoid cultism and militancy and embrace peace at all times stressing that all tiers of government should be positively involved in Agriculture to avoid food crisis, and that Leaders and Rulers should rule with the fear of God, among others.
