Lagos - The Chartered Institute of Professional Printers (CIPPON) says it would soon put in place a law to enforce the regulation of printing in Nigeria. The President of the institute, Mr. Muhammad Lawal, stated this in Lagos at an interactive session with printers.
‘’ The institute is aware of all irregularities in the industry and will soon promulgate laws to minimise some unprofessional attitudes among professional printers in Nigeria,’’ Lawal said.
‘’ The habit of being desperate to win printing contracts, thereby breaking the rules of costing and estimation, will be sanctioned accordingly,’’ he warned.
According to him, the priority of the institute is to restore integrity at the grassroots of the printing profession, so that printers can be on equal footing with other professionals.
He urged members to purchase the institute’s registration forms, which he said, was available for different categories of professional printers.
Lawal told the participants that the institute would establish a practical training centre in
Lagos to curb manpower problems in the sector.
The institute,he said, would strive hard to correct all abnormalities in the industry.
He urged printers to unite, saying that the profession currently had legislative backing.
CIPPON, established by an act of parliament in 2007, regulates, manages and controls the practice of printing and other related matters in Nigeria.
