Petitions: NBA Worried By Delays At Court Of Appeal

Ibadan - The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) says it is worried by the delays in the hearing of election cases before the appellate courts.

“The NBA is disturbed by what is happening at the Court of Appeal and we shall discuss it with the President.

“We are going to make sure he takes a drastic action on the matter,” NBA President Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) said in Ibadan.

He was speaking to newsmen shortly after a thanksgiving service held at the All Saints Church, Jericho, Ibadan.

The NBA boss said he would uplift the morale of his members and ensure that they are well remunerated for the services.

“The bar under my watch will safeguard the peoples constitutional liberties and take care of their rights,’’ Akeredolu said.

Earlier in his sermon, the Minister-in-charge, Venerable Godwin Daramola, had called on the federal government to ensure that the cases pending at the Court of Appeal are treated with dispatch.

“Cases of judicial killings in the country should also be quickly resolved,” Daramola added.
Daramola commended the efforts of the EFCC and ICPC in eradicating corruption in the country, adding that the rate of stealing in Nigeria was alarming.

“The rate of stealing in the country is alarming, we now steal human beings in exchange of money. Corruption runs in the veins of politicians and every Nigerian,” Daramola said.
