Agbor (Delta) - The Ika South Local Government Council of Delta has spent N120 million on the purchase of earth moving machines for the reconstruction of some streets in the area.
Chairman of the council, Hillary Ibude disclosed this in an interview with newsmen at Agbor in Delta.
Ibude said the earth moving machines included a bulldozer, a grader, a pay loader, a roller and tippers.
He also said that the machines had been shipped by the suppliers and would get to the local government council within the next 30 days.
He further said that the council had spent another N24 million on the purchase of five official vehicles for the chairman, leader of the legislative arm, the legislature and for NULGE.
Ibude said that for the council to move forward everybody had to be carried along.
“So with the purchase of these vehicles to ease transport problems for the various units we do not have reasons to fight ourselves,’’ he said.
The chairman also said that N1.8 million was spent on the purchase of five computer sets for the council, adding that the amount covered the purchase of printers, scanner and stabiliser.
Ibude said that electricity supply had been restored to the council, as the council had offset the arrears of the PHCN bill owed by the council and had provided 40 installation poles.
He said that the employees of the council would work more effectively when the atmosphere and work environment were conducive.
