Affluent Nigerians Urged To Bridge Gap Between Rich, Poor

 

BENIN CITY – Wealthy Nigerians and those in position of authority have been called upon to bridge the ever-widening gap between the rich and the poor in the society.


The spiritual head of Holy Aruosa Cathedral in Benin , Ohen – Osa, Harrison Okao gave the charge during a Sermon titled, “ What would you want to be remembered for” He said those in authority and the fortunate ones in the society have a lot to do by way of creating jobs and assisting the less privileged ones, stressing that this will go a long way to reduce crime among youths and poverty reduction in the country.


While urging Nigerians on total loyalty to God Almighty Ohen – Osa Okao, reminded the congregation during the night vigil, that self deceit, pretence and falsehood will never led anyone to heaven, emphasising that heaven is meant for the righteous.


He called on various religious leaders in the country to pray against torrential, wind, hunger, fire outbreak, starvation and continuous peace and progress in the country.


While joining other Nigerians in condemning indecent dressing among female folks, Ohen – Osa Okao said serious repercussion await those who take part in Cultism and assassination as their ends are often disastrous, stressing that the earlier they repent the better.


On the problems of land matters in Benin, which had sent hundreds of people to untimely grave, Ohen-Osa called on land speculators to trend softly as land will always remain after the exit of men.


He therefore called on Benin Palace Chiefs to employ honesty as their weapons while dealing with matters in the Palace and other part of Benin Kingdom.


He called on Nigerians to pray for the wellbeing of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, The Nigerian Nations and its people.


The night vigil featured special prayers for the Oba of Benin, members of the Royal Families and the entire Benin Kingdom.
