BENIN CITY - The Edo State Karate Coach, Lugard Osayi is sure that his wards will sweep the stakes at the Kaduna 2008 National Sports Festival which comes up in November.
Osayi told OBSERVERSports that the state karatekas recently participated in two championships as part of efforts to prepare them for the festival.
“We have been preparing for the festival, we featured in the Bolaji Akinboboye Karate championship in Lagos and Junior de Federation Africain karate (UFAK) open championship in Benin Republic. We did well.”
He disclosed his athletes hopes to perform well in the Kumite (fighting event) and Kata (demonstration event) of the sport.
“For now we will continue to train harder. And we may go into camping when the time comes for intensive training sessions. By God’s grace, we will live up to expectation.”
