Council Warns Hoodlums Against Violence

GWAGWALADA (FCT) - Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT has warned hoodlums in the area against incitement and destruction of public property.

The Council Secretary, Alhaji Usman Yahaya, told newsmen in Gwagwalada, that recent reports of attack on the Kasuwan Dare Police Station and the threat to public peace were unfortunate.

He said the Council observed that some disgruntled people had taken advantage of it’s open door policy and respect for human rights to unleash terror.

“As such, we shall take serious action to stop these attitudes henceforth,” he said.

Yahaya said Gwagwalada residents had been living peacefully with one another, until the emergence of the hoodlums in the area.

He warned the residents including any group, against involvement in criminal activity or supporting illegal operations.

While denying the Council’s alleged support for some groups, Yahaya asked: “How can a Chief Security Officer support criminal activities in his domain.”

He said to ensure peaceful co-existence, the Council had collaborated with communities, security agents and vigilance groups.

Yahaya, however, said the Council would soon embark on community sensitisation and awareness campaign.

According to him, the objective is to unite the various religious, tribal and youth associations, to ensure peaceful co-existence in the area.
