By EUBALDUS ENAHORO

BENIN CITY – The Governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor has been described as an administration with a listening ear, always interested in improving all segments of the society.

This was disclosed by Mr. Tony Ikpasaja, the Special Adviser on Communication and Public Relations to the governor, during the visit by the Edo State Executive members of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU to his office at the government house in Benin City yesterday.

According to the Special Adviser, Governor Osunbor believes that governance is about touching the lives of the people in the state.

He commended the RATTAWU members for propagating the activities of the state government through their various media and urged them to be more actively involved in sanitizing the journalism profession, which has become an all comers affair for quacks.

The Special Adviser disclosed that, Prof. Osunbor believes that for governance to go on smoothly, the interest of the workers must be given priority attention.

Earlier, the State Chairman RATTAWU, Comrade Godfrey Orhewere, expressed the appreciation of the members of the state governor for delegating the Special Adviser to represent him at 3rd state quadrennial delegates conference of RATTAWU held in Benin City.

He disclosed that the member of RATTAWU were however not happy with the state of affairs at the Edo State Art Council and the Broadcasting Service, EBS, adding that there were lots of issues they wanted to bring to the attention of the governor that would move the union forward.

The chairman lamented a situation where there was no single vehicle in the Arts Council, to the extent that the director of the Arts council had no vehicle, adding that when ever members of the dance troupe were going out on engagements, they usually resorted to hiring vehicles and costumes.

According to him, as the Heart Beat of the nation, the Edo State Government should focus attention on the Arts Council which propagates the culture of the state outside.

On the EBS, the RATTAWU Chairman, said, the state broadcasting service needed a wider reach, while the government should consider the training and re-training of its members as well as sponsorship
