ABA - Enyimba’s media officer Tonex Chukwu says the club have put their ordeal in Congo behind them as they get set for Sudan’s Al Hilal this weekend.
Enyimba accused their hosts, TP Mazembe of harsh treatment and poor travel plan that kept them in transit for one week after the match but Chukwu says the players know they now have to win on Sunday.
“It is too bad that CAF already have a schedule cannot be moved or we could have pleaded for our game to be postponed because you expect the players to be weary after spending one week in transit.
“But they know they have a job to do on Sunday against Hilal. When we play Hilal, the players will remember that they are wearing Enyimba jerseys and also that they are Nigerians and these two factors will propel them to go all out and win.
“If we could go to Sudan and lose 3-2 by a last minute goal, nothing stops us from doing the same here though I do not think they will score any goal in Aba,” Chukwu told KickOffNigeria.com.
Enyimba are chasing their third CAF Champions League title in five years and have hit a bad patch in the league phase, losing twice on the road despite their good start where they won every game they played home and away before the lucrative league stage.
