Local Govt Chairmen In Edo Should Emulate The Comrade Governor

By GLEN A. IMOOBE

IT is no longer news that the Governor of the state comrade Adams Oshiomhole is wonderfully doing well to the expectation of the citizens in the state. Unarguably, it is very obvious and crystal clear to all and sundry of the level of rapid development in comrade Oshiomhole’s led administration the state.

He is worth commending because he had actually transformed Edo State. Politics in Nigeria and Edo State in particular has been a business venture. It was a way of imposing candidates in electorates/masses with the comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s administration, electoral malpractices, imposing of candidates, God-fatherism, diverting of government funds to private pockets have been abolished, in short, it is no longer in vogue.

To keep the ball rolling Edo State is wearing a new look especially Benin City due to Oshiomhole’s commitment to good governance. I want to use this medium to tell our Comrade Governor to ignore any form of criticism from enemies of progress in the state and continue his good-work.

Therefore, I must say here, emphatically that local government chairmen in the state should endeavour to develop their various local governments by providing basic amenities, employment opportunities, beautification of the local government council town and the contiguous communities in the area and also use the local government resources/funds judiciously. As the government realest to the people in the grassroot they have an immediate impact on the lives of the youth in their different local government areas of governance.

Moreover, it is also wise to say here that for the avoidance of doubt and for the local government chairmen to do better in their various councils, they can honourably seek an advice from a political mentor of our time, the former executive chairman of Owan East Local Government a former Deputy Speaker EDHA and the present secretary to Edo State Government. Hon. Pally Iriase to brief, advice and guide them on successful handling of the council that will yield the dividend of democracy to the people.
