BENIN CITY – The Global Democratic Initiative (GDI), an intelligential group in Action Congress, has congratulated the new speaker of Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Rt. Hon. Bright Omokhodion on his emergence as the speaker of the House as well as other members of the principal officers council of the House.
A statement signed by Odoligie Edebiri, coordinator of the group, thanked the new leadership and the entire Action Congress members of the State House of Assembly for being able to rise-up to the defense of the yearnings and aspirations of Edo people, which was silenced by the PDP members in the House, who constituted themselves into a clog in the wheel of progress.
The body thanked Rt. Hon. Omokhodion for the courage and bravery that he showed and displayed during and after the siege of Monday, February 22, 2010, where in the face of violence and barbaric attack on his person by enemies of development in the state, he remained focus and unmoved in his resolution to usher in a new dawn, with a view to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Edo State.
The Global Democratic Initiative therefore prayed God to give Rt. Hon. Omokhodion the wisdom and knowledge to enable him effectively pilot the affairs of Edo State House of Assembly.
