EKPOMA - The home branch of the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association has expressed gratitude to the Edo State Government for reducing school fees payable by the students of the institution.
The university alumni equally commended the management of the university for the reduction, but implored the relevant stakeholders to ensure windows of dialogue remained opened, in order to resolve all outstanding issues.
In a communiqué jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the association, Dr. Omi. Ujuanbi and Dr. Moses Ujddughe, issued at the end of its monthly meeting, the association condemned in strong terms, the dastardly act perpetrated during the March 15, 2010 students’ unrest, saying never in the history of the school had unrest led to vandalism of university property.
The association called on the university management to assess the extent of damage and be courageous enough to surcharge the culprits.
In their resolutions, the members of the association appealed to the state government to take over the entire monthly wage-bill of the university as is the practice in other universities nation-wide.
They also appealed to the comrade Governor to release the capital grants meant for the university since inception of his administration.
The association commended the governor on his efforts at transforming the fortunes of Benin City, the state capital and appealed to him to extend the development to AAU.
They expressed confidence in the present administration’s capability to improve the fortunes of the institution, and consequently enjoined all and sundry to support it to enable it implement its policies.
