Ikeja - Police detectives in Lagos have arrested a middle-aged man, who allegedly murdered his friend on Thursday at Shoide Yekola Close, Oko-afa Morogbo area of Lagos.

The deceased was allegedly stabbed on the chest by the suspect during a fight.

A witness, who preferred anonymity, told The Nigerian Observer that the fight was sequel to a disagreement between the friends, resulting in the death of the deceased.

The witness explained that some sympathisers around the area were attracted to the scene when the victim suddenly slumped.

“Immediately they tried to assist him by giving him first aid, but could not do much as he died a few minutes later,’’ the witness said.

Confirming the incident on Friday in Lagos, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Frank Mba, said the victim died on the way to the hospital.

He added that some policemen in the Morogbo area immediately visited the scene of the incident, and moved the corpse to a public mortuary for autopsy.

Mba also said the case was under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.
