Players Respect Yeboah’s Passing

ALL Ghana Premier League players will wear black armbands and observe a minute’s silence in this weekend round of games as a mark of respect for Kessben FC defender Bartholomew Yeboah who died following a League match on Sunday.

The 20-year old central defender died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after complaining of playing 87 minutes of a League game against Liberty Professionals.

The death has shocked many in Ghana football while resurrecting a debate about medical tests for players before the season starts.

They are issues that are likely to dominate Ghana football in the next week but in the meantime the Professional League Board has direct that the weekend games in the premier league be dedicated to Yeboah’s memory.

“PLB informs all the Teams and officiating officials to wear black arm-bans which the Board will provide to all teams as well as observe a minute’s of silence before the kick-off, at all venues next Sunday, which is dedicated in honour of his memory”, it said in a statement.

Players and officials of Kessben FC have not trained all week and were keen to have their weekend game against Aduana Stars postponed but that is unlikely to happen.

They made the short trip from Kumasi to Obuasi to see the family of the late player on Wednesday.
