The death of Edo State born international football star, Endurance Idahor in far away Sudan, has been described as “a monumental loss to Edo People.” The state commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Iziegbe Anita Evbuomwan stated this while receiving the remains of the deceased on behalf of the Edo State government from officials of El-Merrikh, Sudan at the Benin Airport on Tuesday.
The youth and sports commissioner who was full of emotion, extolled the qualities of the late footballer.
It is on record that he performed excellently well in that club, hence the Sudanese football club described him as an example of a professional, a committed individual and a symbol of loyalty at his death,” the commissioner stated.
Condoling the family of the late soccer star, Hon Evbuomwan urged them to take solace in the fact he used his God-given talent positively on the international arena, and prayed the Almighty to grant his soul eternal rest.
The commissioner, however frowned at the misconduct of the youths present at the arrival of the Sudan aircraft (Nn t2M Forty Eight Aviation), stressing that such attitudes do not tell well about us in the international community.
She also advised the youths to be more co-ordinated, especially today when the corpse will be brought to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, adding that “we must not always subject ourselves to the use of force in order to do the right thing.
