AGENEBODE – Over 250 teaching and non-teaching staff have been employed for the various primary schools by authorities of Etsako East Local Government Council.
This boost for education in the area, the council chairman Chief Stanley Odidi told newsmen recently was geared towards enhancing the educational standard of schools in the area.
According to him, “ In the past, you hardly find one or two teachers in an entire school but now, schools are fully staffed”, noting that this would improve pupils’ learning process.
He said the council was determined to cater for the educational needs of its students, noting that a block of six classrooms would be built in the 10 wards that make up the local government area.
Toilet facilities, he stated would also be built in all schools in the area to cater for the needs of both staff and students.
He recalled that not too long ago, teaching and instructional materials that included chalk and exercise books amongst others were given to schools for free distribution to their students.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to raise the educational standard in the area and pledged to do all within his power and within the limits of available resources to achieve the desired results.
He called for supports from all and sundry this direction, saying, “as leaders of tomorrow the foundation of our children’s education must be solid, preparatory to the task ahead in their future endeavours”.
