Wrestling: Rivers ’ll Win Gold At KADA 2008

 

PORT HARCOURT– Rivers State Sports Council wrestling coach, Godfey Eyee has assured that the state would win gold medals in wrestling at the national sports festival in Kaduna, tagged KADA 2008.


He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt at the on going 8th Rivers State Sports Festival that he was impressed with the raw talents from the grassroots” participating in the festival.


We have already seen some good wrestlers from the grassroots. The wrestlers have shown good skills and only need some touches to improve on their standard,” he said.


Eyee assured the people of Rivers that the state would win more gold medals in wrestling and Grecko – Roman wrestling in the November Games in Kaduna.


He said the decision to ban state/elite athletes from participating in the festival was a good one as budding talents would have the opportunity develop.


In some bouts already held, Victor Joseph of Abua/Odual local government defeated Pere Komotari of Degema local government 7-0 in the 46 kg free style wrestling. Lucky Atako of Port Harcourt City local government, beat Dumni Nelson of Abual / Odual 8-1 in the 66 kg of Grecco Roman wrestling.
