Nigeria Pulls Out Of Mind Games

LAGOS - The Nigerian Chess Federation (NCF) has withdrawn from the ongoing Mindsports Olympics in China , NCF spokesman Femi Solaja, disclosed today in Lagos .

Solaja told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the federation failed to meet the demands of the organisers, who had requested the NCF to provide one way tickets for its contingent.

“The sponsors requested that the NCF should provide one way tickets for the contingent to be refunded on arrival,î Solaja said.

He said the organisers had orginally agreed to provide the tickets for the flight to China , adding that the federation declined to honour the invitation when it was informed that it had to procure one way tickets for the 12-man contingent.

He said the federation had planned to use the competition in China to prepare for the 38th Chess Olympiad in Dresden ,Germany in November.
