FASKARI(Katsina State) - Faskari Local Government in Katsina State, has distributed N2.1 million as loans to “grassroots entrepreneurs,’’ the Council Chairman, Alhaji Nafi’u Garba, has said.
The chairman told newsmen in Faskari that the micro-loan scheme was introduced to empower people to be self-reliant.
Garba said 427 persons had so far benefited from the scheme, adding that the beneficiaries received loans, ranging from N5,000 to N10,000 each.
He noted that the beneficiaries were drawn from all the ten wards in the local government.
He advised them to invest the money wisely, adding that under a revolving loan scheme, money repaid by beneficiaries were usually given to other applicants on the waiting list.
According to him, youths, elderly men and women were among the beneficiaries.
The Chairman also said that the council had procured food items worth N6.5 million for distribution to poor people during the Ramadan.
