Bag Snatcher, Tricksters Terrorise FCT

Abuja - Bag snatchers and tricksters notoriously called “One chance” taxi syndicates, have increased their nefarious activities in the FCT, making women their target, reports say.

The syndicates’ operation has created concern among commuters and FCT residents, particularly women.

Members of the syndicates usually reserve one seat for unsuspecting passengers, who ultimately fall victim of their robbery tactics, after boarding such vehicles.

Miss Akwaji Ogar, a GSM operator at UTC Shopping Centre, Area 10, said that she once lost recharge cards and money to a “one chance” taxi operator, on her way home after business.

Ogar said that she lost the money after boarding a taxi from NIPOST office at Area 10 part of Abuja to Lugbe, on the outskirts of the territory.

According to her, the driver of the taxi, on reaching the Airport Road, changed his mind about the trip and asked her to alight from his cab to board another one.

“On alighting, I discovered that the N12,000 I made from sales, and about N25,000 worth of recharge cards in my bag were gone,” she lamented.
