BENIN CITY ––Edo State Governor, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor has again declared that his administration has zero-tolerance for corruption.
He also declared that there is no financial impropriety in the accounts of local governments in the state and that the state government does not have or operate any secret interest yielding account.
Prof. Osunbor gave the explanation against the rumour that there was corruption in the accounts of the local governments and that his administration had a secret interest yielding account.
The governor spoke during a breakfast interactive session with Journalist from across the country in Benin City last weekend.
To further buttress the clean bill of financial health of his administration, Prof. Osunbor disclosed that he did not use N1.5 billion to publish the brochure of the first year anniversary of the state government and that he did not use N500 million of public funds for the burial of his late mother in 2007, adding that the information was not correct.
While admonishing Journalists to be wary of rumour-mongers, he told them that the appointment of a Journalist as the state Commissioner for Information, depends on the recommendation of such Journalist by the leaders from the local government areas in the state.
To this effect, he said letters would be sent out to leaders in the local government areas soon for such recommendation.
Prof. Osunbor revealed that prior to the emergence of his administration, the people of Edo State cried out that there was near absence of governance in the state and that since his assumption of office as Governor of Edo State, there had been a great difference between the period of the past administration and the present regime, as it has so far achieved as confirmed by the massive infrastructural build up in the state.
He lauded the Federal Government for creating the Niger Delta ministry which, he said, was an indication that President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua meant well for the region and the entire country.
