Cardinal Okojie tasks parishioners of St. Gabriel Catholic Church

BENIN CITY - As the St. Grabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, along Sapele Road, Benin City, Edo State, built and donated to Catholic Church by Sir (Chief) Gabriel Igbinedion, was formally dedicated yesterday, the ‘Archbishop of Lagos Metropolitan see his Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Okojie, has said that the building (Church) has no doubt become a link between people, especially the parishioners and God.


Cardinal Okoje who made the remark at the dedication ceremony of the parish, noted that the St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, following its successful completion had become the house of God, and enjoined the parishioners to ensure that the church is not desecrated.


In their separate messages of felicitation with the donor of the St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church Sir. (Dr.) Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, who held a special thanksgiving service, to mark his 74th birthday anniversary at the church, yesterday, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and the Governor of Edo State, Senator Oserheimen Osunbor, eulogised the Honorary Romanian Ambassador to Edo and Delta States for his distinguished service to society.


The President and the Governor who were represented at the ceremony by Interior Affairs Minister, Godwin Abbe and Dr. Patrick Ojebuoboh, Commissioner for Special Duties, Solid Minerals and Tourism, Edo State, respectively, prayed God to strengthen as well as guide and guard the celebrant to enable him render more service to humanity.
