LAGOS- Women now dominate the Lagos State Judiciary, numbering 128 of the 184 judicial officers in the state.
Statistics obtained from the state’s Ministry of Justice revealed that only 18 of the 51 high court judges in the state are men.
Also four out of the five judges next in rank to the state’s chief judge are female.
The statistics is contained in an official handbook for the celebration of the 2008/2009 legal year by the state’s judiciary, which started on September 7.
It indicates that Justice I.E. Akande, a female, is next in rank to the Chief Judge, Justice Augustine Ade Alabi.
The statistics shows that of the 14 chief magistrates (Grade I) only two are men while all the nine chief magistrates (Grade II) are women.
