Revive Age Grade Sports In Schools ...Coach Pleads With Edo Govt

 

BENIN CITY - The Coach of Star United Football Club of Benin Osadebamwen Uyi has stressed the need for the state government to revive age grade sports in schools.


Coach Uyi who is floating a youth club, Star United FC believes that the state government should promote and develop the game of football better through age-grade sports.


“You see, it is very necessary to revive school sports properly. The Ministry of Education has a task to perform if the government gives them the nod to re-introduce age-grade sports in schools.”
They used to talk about the catch them young issue. It is good for the young people to be developed in football and other sports, the way it is done in European countries.”


He said the European nations start their football and other sports at a tender age.


“In those old days, football and other sports was developed through schools. It can be re-introduced that is one of the ways we can better the lots of sports in Nigeria.”


Uyi who holds an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from Auchi Polytechnic in Accountancy has won laurels for his Under-16 team in the past.
