By STEVE OMA-OFOZOR

BENIN CITY – A budding judo star Michael Aiwerioba has vowed to rule the judo world in the near future after a hard earned 2nd position in the 25kg underaged category at the just concluded “All Comers Judo Championship” organized for the under aged in the state capital.

“I love judo game, it is good for the body, it teaches mental alertness and makes one fit physically.
“I will like to become a champion in future and go beyond local level. But I will have to train hard to achieve it if my parents will agree for me to continue”, he wished.

Little Aiwerioba aged 11, son of Prince Bob Aiwerioba of Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State had shone like a million stars from the lots that contested.

The championship which lasted between 3rd and 5th of September, 2008 was organized by the Edo State Judo Association and sponsored by Joles Blessed Venture.

Speaking on the championship one of the state’s judo coaches averred that, “the essence was to catch them young and also give them the exposure and make them have interest in judo game”.

This, he said will help the state and Nigeria in particular from dearth of judokas in the future especially in the age categories.
