Before the kick-off of the 5-weekold Globacom Premier League, the Nigerian Premier League board organized series of seminars/workshops for clubs managements, officials and even match officials all in a bid to have a hitch free league this season.
But the league which is only just 5 weeks old is already being disturbed by some over-zealous and crazy football fans.
When Sharks visited Akure to engage Sunshine Stars, at the end of the game Sharks Coach Kadiri Ikhana was attacked and a week later Sunshine management informed league followers that the culprits have been nabbed.
Again Kadiri Ikhana was harassed in Port Harcourt, his base when Sharks drew with Bayelsa United.
However the Club management quickly came out to defend its club supporters who the management said did not beat up Ikhana, but that they merely expressed their displeasure over the home draw.
Only last Saturday, in Kaduna, Kadiri Ikhana was manhandled by Kaduna United supporters for leading Sharks to pip the northern side 1-0 in the week 5 Premier League.
These unruly incidents should not be overlooked by the league body.
These clubs supporters should be sanctioned now.
