BENIN CITY ––The Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wilson Imongan has enjoined well meaning individuals as well as philanthropic organisations to support government in its effort to enhance the medical well-being of the citizenry.
Dr., Imongan made the call yesterday while expressing appreciation to Rotary Club of Benin during the donation of assorted medical equipment to the Stella Obasanjo Women and Children Hospital Complex, Benin City.
Acknowledging the laudable humanitarian gestures and contributions of the Rotary Club to human and societal development over the years, the health commissioner, however, commended them for their enormous sacrifices and selfless service to humanity, pointing out that the whole essence of living was the ability to positively affect the lives of others.
While emphasising that the focus and health policy thrust of Governor Oserheimen Osunbor led-administration in the state was geared towards reducing the high incidence of maternal and infant mortality rate to the barest minimum, especially amongst the very vulnerable groups, Dr. Imongan, therefore, used the occasion to call on other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) to emulate the shinning examples of Rotary Club.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Woghiren thanked the donors for their humanitarian gestures and promised to use them to save the lives of the women and children in the state.
