DAURA (KATSINA- Alhaji Aminu Manzo, Chairman, Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State, at the weekend distributed 1,200 bags of assorted food items to the people of the area as ramadan gifts.

The items include 550 bags of rice, 550 bags of sugar and 100 bags of millets.
Manzo said the food items were distributed to assist the muslim faithful during the ramadan period.

He has also set up a distribution committee to ensure that the items reached the people.
Manzo said the council had introduced free meal for the needy, to break their fasts in Daura town throughout the ramadan period.

“The meals were given out to the needy at designated locations in the town,” he said.The chairman urged members of the distribution committee to ensure fairness and transparency in carrying out their assignments.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the food items for the purpose intended.Responding, the Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Mamman Na-Shu’aibu, said it was the first time the council would distribute food items to the needy during ramadan.

He promised that the committee would be fair in the distribution of the items, and commended Manzo for the gesture.
