ABUJA -Speaker Dimeji Bankole of the House of Representatives on Monday expressed shock over the sudden death of Rep Mustapha Tsanyawa (ANPP-Kano).
A statement issued by Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media, quoted Bankole as describing the late legislator as “a man of peace and a formidable pillar”.
The statement said Bankole also described the late Tsanyawa, who represented Tsanyawa/Kunchi Federal Constituency of Kano State, as a formidable pillar, who had made brilliant contributions on the floor of the House.
“I am shocked and distressed at this huge loss, but as a believer in the omnipotence of the Almighty Allah.
“I take solace in the fact that our dear colleague and ‘comrade’ as he is popularly called has gone to Aljannat Firdaus (Paradise),” Bankole said in the statement.
Bankole also condoled Gov. Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State and the family of the deceased and prayed Allah to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Reports that a condolence registered has been opened at the National Assembly complex in honour of their late colleague.
NAN also reports that the death had brought to four the number of the lawmakers that had died since June last year when the House was inaugurated.
Other late lawmakers were: Rep Aminu Safana (PDP-Katsina), Joel Anota (PDP-Ondo) and Rep Segun Oladimeji (PDP-Oyo).
