Western Union Pledges Assistance To Nigerians

 

JOHANNESBURG- Telegraphic money transfer giant, Western Union, has pledged its assistance to the proposed establishment of a flea market by the Nigerian community in South Africa.


Western Union ECOWAS Regional Director Aida Diarra made the pledge at the launch of the money transfer service at the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg.


She said: “I want to pledge our commitment of our corporate social responsibility to the Nigerian community as elsewhere where we operate.


“Following the standing excellent relationship between us and First Bank Plc and Nigeria, we will give every assistance to the Nigerian community in whatever project it chooses to embark on,” Diarra said.


She urged Nigerians to take advantage of the “friendly, reliable, timely, efficient and cost effective’’ money transfer service to be provided by Western Union through its agent, South Africa’s largest retain bank,Absa.


Diarra said: “The number of Absa locations offering the Western Union Money Transfer Service in South Africa is expected to climb to 200 during the next 12 months, making it easier for consumers around the globe to send and receive money internationally.”


Earlier, both Presidents of Nigerians In Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Kenneth Ayere and Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr. Jason Osuafor requested the Western Union management to assist the community in its quest to establish a flea market for Nigerians in South Africa.
