BENIN CITY –Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee set up by the Edo State House of Assembly to investigate the abandoned Uzebu and Siluko Road flood and erosion control projects, Hon. Emmanuel Okoduwa has charged the contractor handling the job to ensure a quality work.,
Speaking at the project sites on Wednesday, Hon. Okoduwa enjoined the contracting firm handling the projects to utilize the forthcoming dry season to complete the job.
The committee chairman further urged the contractor to take chances of its return to site having abandoned the job for a very long time to correct the defects noticed in the areas already done.
On his part, the Assistant Director Flood and Erosion Control, Ministry of Environment, Engineer G.M. Ejemai said the laying of the under ground culvert would assist to capture areas where the drainage has failed along second. Cemetery road, adding that the new design would have manholes that would serve as collection point for the erosion to flow easily.
Earlier, the Project Engineer for Loh and or the contracting firm handling the project Engineer Johnbull Egwu assured the Committee that the job would be completed within the shortest time possible.
Engineer Ogwu however stated that the final product of the project, is to link the flood to the NDDC underground drainage coming from Siluko Road by Teachers House which is expected to terminate at Ogba River.
