UYO- The Uyo branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) says it would hold a solemn assembly to mark the onset of the 2008/2009 legal year.

The branch Chairman of NBA, Mr. Ekanem Ekanem, told newsmen in Uyo the association took the decision because of the death of nine of its members in 2007/2008 legal year.

“We are holding a solemn assembly to seek divine intervention for our problems,” Ekanem said, adding: “The death of lawyers in one year is source of great concern.”

Ekanem said that the assembly would take the form of a special court session, while some clergymen would be invited to pray for the members.

He, however, prayed that the new legal year would not record such sad experiences again.
It will be recalled that the new legal year began on September 22, with a special church service and court session.
