BENIN CITY- Oredo Local Government Council has again assured of its commitment to the physical health and general well-being of residents in the locality.
Chairman, Hon. Mike Nosa-Ehima, who was speaking while receiving the baby whose medical bills were paid by the council recently, maintained that the well-being of the people of the local government area enjoys top priority of his administration.
The council chairman explained that it was in the expression of the priority attention that more health centers were being built in the locality and his administration was collaborating with health institutions and health delivery Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, to ensure a growing health status for the people.
Hon. Nosa-Ehima noted that the free health programmes co-sponsored by Oredo Local Government, PRO- health international and the Danjuma Foundation, held at the Stella Obasanjo women and children hospital sometime ago, were highly successful and rewarding to the people.
The council chairman disclosed that one of the beneficiaries of the free health programmes was baby Salem Broderick’s whose parents attended the programme, but could not be immediately attended to because of the time required to do a thorough examination of the baby’s ailment which had caused a swelling at the back of his head.
Hon. Nosa-Ehima noted that the vice-chairman of the council, Hon. Omorogieva Gbajumo, was assigned to ensure that the baby got the treatment he required, adding that it was finally at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, that the successful surgical operation was carried out to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
Earlier, father of the baby, Mr. Richard Broderick’s from Delta State, who led the thank-you delegation to the council, expressed his family’s gratitude to Oredo Local Government Council.
