BIRNIN KEBBI- Kebbi Director of Sports, Emmanuel Bawa, says funds were yet to be released for the state’s participation in the 16th National Sports Festival billed for November in Kaduna .
Bawa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi that “in the event that the festival scheduled for Kaduna is postponed, then I have gained more time to prepare and win more laurels”.
“As at now, no funds have been released to camp and select representatives for fruitful
participation at the sports festival,” he said.
He explained that government had proposed to spent about N19 million to enable the state participate in 11 individual events, adding that “I have been praying for prompt release of funds so we can prepare well and win laurels”.
He lamented that preparations for team events had not been realised due to lack of qualified coaches, transport facilities and welfare for athletes.
“The postponement would enable me prepare athletes for individual events to win medals in other places where modern facilities were available,” he added.
